From the Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony to marathon and triathlon events, the (anticipated) swimmable Seine is about to make history.
Olympic swimming events on the Seine were last held in 1900. With increased population and industrialization, swimming was prohibited in 1923 and has been since. It is interesting to note, in the 1960s only three fish species were found which now has risen to 35 due to the recent cleanup.

With the success of the cleanup, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and French President Emmanuel Macron have said they will take a dip to show the world the Seine is now swimmable.
