Did you hear $1.6 billion was spent on the Seine River cleanup project?

From the Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony to marathon and triathlon events, the (anticipated) swimmable Seine is about to make history.

Olympic swimming events on the Seine were last held in 1900. With increased population and industrialization, swimming was prohibited in 1923 and has been since. It is interesting to note, in the 1960s only three fish species were found which now has risen to 35 due to the recent cleanup.

Can you believe who wants to take a dip?

With the success of the cleanup, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and French President Emmanuel Macron have said they will take a dip to show the world the Seine is now swimmable.

Have you visited Paris Plage?

While Paris Plage is taking a hiatus due to the Olympics, it has been a recognized summer attraction since 2002.

It’s a pop-up beach concept with many locations on the Seine for those looking to relax near water and escape the summer heat. Only one location in north Paris has had swimming along with the riverside activities.

The first time I saw Paris…
